Malcolm Florey, in his capacity as District Councillor, got together with a group of people from the village and opened a Community shop in a Portacabin. This proved to be very successful and several years later, it was decided to build a permanent shop with more storage and sales space.
Above you can see part of the original team and the chaps who delivered the Portacabin. To the left is the scene of its arrival, very early one morning.
John Tresidder, our next Chairman, masterminded the huge task of raising the capital, building the permanent shop and can be seen here announcing the opening of the new premises.
